A good William IV silver pap boat, totally plain, with a
simple contemporary monogram engraved on one side.
Made in 1832 by William Burch of London.
Length: 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm)
A pap boat
was the name given to this unusually-shaped small vessel.
It
was a shallow feeding bowl for a young child or an
invalid, a little like the body of a cream jug. 'Pap'
consists a mixture of bread or flour, sugar and water or
milk, mixed to a thick consistency.
