A beautiful pair of 18 karat gold chain cufflinks, with two faces featuring a different hand-carved and hand- painted stag in rock crystal -- each linked to an 18 karat gold cartridge.

All the 18 k gold cufflinks you see on these pages are NEW and made entirely by hand specially for us. They carry English hallmarks as authentication that they are 18 k gold - in short, the top of the range. We do NOT sell cheap cufflinks made from silver- plate or other metals.

The art of hand- painting rock crystal is hundreds of years old, and it is a highly skilled profession. Starting with a piece of rock crystal, mined in Brazil or Madagascar, our craftsman carves a three-dimensional image INSIDE the stone. He uses a collection of hand-made steel tools, and a paste of oil and diamond dust.

Then he starts the painting process, which is extraordinary in its razor-sharp precision. As it is effectively all done 'inside-out', everything is painted in reverse. Therefore he starts with the highlights, working backwards to the main features, and finally the background.

He paints in oil, using a traditional brush, but has to wait several days for each layer to dry before starting on the next. This process takes weeks, and for the finer work, he uses a brush with only a single hair.

We then fix a backing of Mother of Pearl, and mount it in 18 k yellow gold. Each cufflink face is original, as it is not only hand-carved but also hand-painted by the same craftsman.

Any pair of cufflinks can be shipped anywhere in the world.
