A very good pair of late Victorian five-light silver
candelabra.
The stepped square bases have gadroon
mounts, and the Corinthian columns are in the Graeco-Roman
style.
There is a central light, and two pairs of
branches holding four outer lights.
The
branches
can be removed, leaving either a pair of single
candlesticks, or a pair of three-light candelabra - very
versatile!
Made in 1894 by Mappin & Webb.
Overall height to top of centre light: 20 3/4
inches (52.5 cm) Span of branches: 14 inches (35.5 cm)
