A very attractive round Victorian silver bread basket.
The body is lobed, and engraved with scrolls and
flowers. The applied border is cast, and formed from
shells and scrolls.
The swing handle is fluted,
with flowers and leaves; and there is a small crest
engraved at the top of the handle.
It stands on a
plain, shaped six-sided pedestal base.
Although
originally made as a basket for bread, today it can be used
for fruit in the centre of the table.
Made in
1847 by Robinson, Edkins and Aston of Birmingham.
