A very good, large attractive George III silver sugar
basket.
The shaped oblong body is engraved with
leaves and scrolls, with the head of a cherub at each end.
The inside is gilded, with fine bands of engraving around
the border.
It has a shaped thread handle, and
stands on a shaped engraved pedestal base.
Although this was originally made as a sugar
basket, it can be used today on the table for chocolates,
small cookies or candies.
