A beautiful small slim silver-gilt (vermeil) cream jug.
It is richly decorated with leaves, a mask and a
cherub around the body.
There is a blank
cartouche, a mythological head under the spout.
The
handle is in the form of a strange reptile with scales, and
it stands on an attractive round pedestal base decorated
with leaves.
This is a lovely piece of
Victorian work made to a very high standard.
Made in 1879 by Henry Holland of London.
Height to top of handle: 5 1/2 inches (14 cm)
