A good medium-length George III silver meat skewer.
It has a plain ring handle, with a tapering length,
and is engraved with a lion crest and an Earl's Coronet.
The silver hallmarks are very clearly stamped on
the back.
Skewers were originally designed to
fasten a joint of meat to a spit. These days, they are
often used as letter openers.
Made in 1815 by
John Lias of London.
