A good, small, three-piece octagonal silver teaset,
comprising teapot, sugar bowl and milk/cream jug.
It is referred to as a 'bachelor set', because it
is really only large enough to serve one person. It would
probably have been used at breakfast time.
Each
piece is plain, with octagonal panels. The insides of the
sugar bowl and milk/cream jug are gilded (gold-washed).
Octagonal
design is the hardest to make. It is based on the George I
style from around 1720. Made in 1913 by H.
Matthews of Chester. Height of teapot: 7 inches (17.5
cm) Weight: 18 oz the set (560 g)
