Late Victorian Silver 'Gallery' Inkstand

Late Victorian Silver 'Gallery' Inkstand

Price: £1685$2215€2015

A very attractive late Victorian silver inkstand.

It is rectangular and plain, with three vertical 'gallery' sides which are pierced with scrolls.

It has two detachable plain square glass ink bottles, with silver mounts and hinged lids. These allowed for two different colours of ink to be used. There is also a pair of curved holders on which a pen can rest.

The inkstand stands on four lovely cast and pierced feet.

Both the silver and the glass are in excellent condition, and this is a very well-made piece.

This fine late Victorian silver inkstand was made in 1898 by George Howson of London.
