Victorian Engraved Silver Mug 1870

A lovely Victorian silver mug.

The body is round and straight-sided, with a simple bead mount around the top.  It is engraved with shaded scrolls and leaf-like shapes on stems.  The mug stands on a plain round pedestal base with a matching bead mount.   It has a scroll and bead handle, and it is lightly gilded (gold-washed) inside.

This is a fine half-pint mug, with the type of shaded engraving that is typical of the mid-Victorian period.  It is a good weight.

This pretty Victorian silver mug was made in 1870 by William Hunter of London.
