George III Fiddle Pattern Silver Caddy Spoon 1811

A very good George III silver caddy spoon.

It has a short fiddle pattern handle, and a large plain oval bowl. It is engraved with a contemporary monogram on the handle.

This is a lovely and delicate caddy spoon, with a fiddle pattern handle; by this date, this design was becoming very popular in England having been copied from an original French pattern. The hallmarks are neatly stamped in a diamond shape on the back of the handle.

This fine George III silver caddy spoon was made in 1811 by William Lea of Birmingham.
