Pair of Silver Grape Scissors

A lovely pair of silver grape scissors.

The handles are in the form of grapes and vines, and they are most realistically cast on both sides. The cutting areas are plain.

They have been cast in a very heavy gauge of silver, and feel really substantial when held. They are stamped with hallmarks on either side of the plain cutting areas. This has been a traditional pattern for grape scissors over the years.

This fine pair of silver grape scissors was made in 1938 by Barker Brothers of Birmingham -- an excellent firm of silversmiths who merged with Ellis & Co. to form Barker Ellis after the Second World War.
