Victorian Silver Collapsible Beaker - Recently Sold
A lovely Victorian silver collapsible beaker.
This is a wonderful example, comprising six rings, each stamped with silver hallmarks. It is gilded (gold-washed) inside, and the op is engraved with a contemporary crest.
Made in 1881 by Edward Brown of London.
What a marvellous idea, used mainly during a hunting, shooting or fishing expedition. The beaker, in its collapsed form, would be carried in a pocket. When it was time for 'refreshments', it would come out, and the top and lower rings would be pulled out to form a watertight beaker. After drinking, it is easily collapsed and dropped back into the pocket. Can we find a silver collapsible beaker for you? Email us now. We ship antique silver worldwide.
- Height (when opened): 2 3/4 inches (7 cm)
