Enormous Edwardian Silver Basket

An enormous Edwardian silver basket.

It is shaped oval, with a gadroon mount around the top. The body is formed from oval rings of very thick wirework, with friezes of round rings around the top and bottom.

It has a bright cranberry-colour red glass liner, and stands on four very large claw and ball feet.

This is an amazing basket -- a fantastic size. I assume it was intended to hold fruit in the centre of the table, and with the red glass liner, it would look extraordinary filled with grapes. Because the glass is so heavy, it all weighs a huge amount when lifted. This is a wonderful piece of silverware that really makes a statement!

This enormous Edwardian silver basket was made in 1908 by William Hutton & Sons.
