George III Fiddle Thread Pattern Silver Caddy Spoon 1809

A very good George III silver caddy spoon.

The handle is in the highly sought Fiddle Thread pattern and engraved with contemporary initials 'M' over 'W M' at the end. The round bowl is completely plain.

This is a lovely silver caddy spoon made by one of Birmingham's finest silversmiths. Fiddle Thread is a very popular design, and had only recently been introduced to England (from France) at this time. Caddy spoons were used to measure a portion of tea when taking it from the tea caddy.

This attractive George III silver caddy spoon was made in 1809 by Joseph Willmore of Birmingham - a very famous silversmith.
