George III Oval Silver Mustard Pot
A lovely George III silver mustard pot
It is a good size, with a plain, oval body, which has thread borders around the top and along the base. The shaped hinged lid is totally plain, with a shall thumbpiece and a small hole cut in one side to allow a mustard spoon to go through. It has a shaped thread handle and a blue glass liner.
This is a very good silver mustard pot. It is large, and its totally plain design would certainly look at home with today's minimalist styles. The silver hallmarks are clearly stamped underneath the base, and a maker's mark is visible inside the lid.
This beautiful George III silver mustard pot was made in 1792 by John Carter of London.
