*Irish* - Antique Brightcut Silver Sugar Tongs

A beautiful pair of antique Irish silver sugar tongs.

They have tapering arms which are engraved with lovely brightcut decoration which extends around the centre. The oval bowls are very small.

This is a very attractive pair of sugar tongs, and the engraving is clear and crisp throughout. They would make an excellent gift for any lover of Irish silverware. The brightcutting is typical of this period. The tongs are hallmarked with the maker's mark ID and the harp and hibernia. Small pieces of this type were often not stamped with a date letter. A separate picture of the hallmarks can be emailed on demand.

This pair of antique brightcut Irish silver sugar tongs was made c1775 by Isaac D'Olier of Dublin.
