*Irish* - Very Rare Antique Limerick Brightcut Silver Sauce Ladle
An exceptionally rare antique Limerick silver sauce ladle.
It is in the traditional Old Irish Point pattern, and the handle turns down at the end. It has been beautifully engraved with brightcut decoration, with a contemporary monogram inside the cartouche. The bowl is small and round.
This is a fantastic and very rare Irish provincial sauce ladle. The fact that the bowl is smkall and round may mean that it was also used for cream, but the whole piece is a little large for that. On the back the maker's mark P.C has been strongly stamped twice and it is easy to read. There is no STERLING mark. All in all, this is a real find and a collector's item.
This lovely antique Limerick silver sauce ladle was made c1790 by Patrick Connell.
