Late Victorian Silver Soup Tureen

A beautiful late Victorian silver soup tureen.

It is largely plain and shaped oval, with a half-fluted body. It stands on a plain oval pedestal base, and has two large loop handles with thread decoration.

The oval lid is also partly fluted, with a delightful finial in the shape of a tiny soup tureen at the top.

This is a lovely piece, a reproduction of a Georgian design from around 1800. It has been made in a very good gauge of silver, and it feels very heavy in the hand. Even without using it for soup, it makes a lovely centrepiece for the table.

This fine late Victorian silver soup tureen was made in 1900 by Hawksworth Eyre.
