Medium Size Silver Strawberry Dish

A good medium size silver strawberry dish.

It is a round shallow dish with a flat base and a scalloped rim. It is a very good size for serving fruit, hence its name.

The original 'strawberry dishes' were made from around 1700, firstly by Huguenot silversmiths and later by their English colleagues. They were used for serving desserts of all types, not just strawberries. Today they are very popular gifts as they are extremely versatile on the dining-room table. This one has been made from a good gauge of silver, and it feels very heavy in the hand.

This fine medium size silver strawberry dish was made in 1972 by Royal Irish Silver of Dublin.
