The body is plain and bellied, and it stands on a plain round base. The lid is pierced and detachable, with a shaped finial.

This is a lovely piece, which would make a perfect small gift. It is very practical, and the fact it is so plain makes it match so much of today’s contemporary look. It is a good weight, and feels quite substantial when lifted up.

This plain round silver sugar shaker was made in 1959 by John Chatterley of Birmingham – a very good firm of silversmiths that closed only recently.
