Three-Piece Silver Salad Serving Set

A most unusual three-piece silver salad serving set.

It has a conventional silver salad serving spoon and fork, each with a fig-shaped bowl.

Interestingly, there is also a third piece, resembling a two-pronged fork.

Each piece has a narrow plain tapered square handle, with a bead at the end.

The set comes with a piece of paper with all three pieces sketched, under the heading: '4th Century Spoons & Fork', with the description: 'Reproductions of Roman spoons found while excavating ancient camps in England.' This is possible, but they also look a little 'Art Deco' to me. Either way, this is an unusual set and the pieces are of very qood quality and weight.

This interesting set was made in 1935 by Thomas Bradbury.
