Victorian Half-Fluted Silver Mustard Pot

A lovely Victorian silver mustard pot.

The round body is bellied and half-fluted with an elegant bead mount around the top. It stands on a plain round pedestal base with a matching bead border. The centre of the lid is fluted, and it has a shell thumbpiece and a small hole cut in to allow a mustard spoon to stand. It has a scroll handle and a blue glass liner. Unusually, it is gilded (gold-washed) inside the body and the lid.

This is a very good mustard. It's like a small version of a teapot, with a very distinctive half-fluted design.

This fine Victorian half-fluted mustard pot was made in 1889 by George Angell of London - a very good silversmith.
